40 Miler!!! Live tracking!!

As I write this, Betsy is out on her longest run yet, aiming to complete 40 miles. She’s using a structured run/walk approach, alternating between 7 minutes of running and 3 minutes of walking, repeated until she reaches the 40-mile mark. Below is the link to track her run live—once she finishes, the data will expire





Not only is this run an opportunity for time on her feet, but it’s also a great chance to work on nutrition. I’ll be running refills out to Betsy to help manage her calorie deficit. With an estimate of 100 calories burned per mile, we figure she’ll need to consume upwards of 4,000 calories. She plans to achieve this through a mix of electrolyte drinks and solid snacks like soy butter and jelly sandwiches, rice, bean and avocado wraps, and the occasional energy gel.

Haha calorie deficit sounds familiar. It's hard to eat 4000 calories a day but it can be done! Good luck to Betsy, can't wait until her transcon starts! :-)
